I go along with Capt Bob. I have tried the Kenko 1. The latter connects only with selected lenses but the Kenko fits most - I hesitate to say all. The Sony 2x is disappointing with my Sony and I have yet to see a benefit with the Kenko vs a cropped image without - there is no improvement in sharpness, a deterioration in colour rendering and max aperture reduces.
I have checked out the Kenko with a few lenses and just a week or two ago with my Sony and there was little to choose between a cropped image without TC and the TC image at max aperture - but if I use an equivalent aperture on the without TC ie F8 it has the edge. Just try to focus the lens plus TC at full range mm!
It's tricky even with a tripod and focus peaking and plenty of time. Auto focus with the TC requires good light and decent contrast at long focal lengths. Good fun but no benefit and a lot of hassle if IQ is what you are looking for. I will start by saying I do use my Kenko 1. Here are a couple of examples.
